Ten on Tuesday: 10 Songs You Hate
1. Send in the Clowns - Judy Collins (shudders)
2. Anything by Rush - it makes me want to break things.
3. Anything by Soulja Boy. He can't spell (and I really do not care if I spell his name right either) or use proper grammar to the extent that it is overdone and just plain annoying. My brain can't rearrange/replace letters fast enough. Again, it makes me want to break things.
4. Metallica - Turn the Page.
5. Anything w too much autotune or that odd synthesizer vocals. Sing people... for real.
6. My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion Flagline practice to this song was bad enough. The beginning makes me want to swing a large sequined flag over my head while kneeling in mud.
Then IT was part of concert band.
7. Mmmbop - Hanson. Earworm atroscity that is now stuck in my head. Grr.
8. Angel - Sarah McLaughlin. I used to love this song. It used to be able to be seen as somewhat romantic until is got used for tragedies and dog/pet related commercials.
9. Hero - Enrique Ingelsias. It makes me cry no matter what.
10. Party in My Tummy - Yo Gabba Gabba. Annoying and why don't they chew the food that goes to the party. That's a choking hazard.

...that never ends...
I am working on a scarf that has channelled Lamb Chop though I am not talking about the fleecy wisecracking hand puppet. I'm talking about the theme from the show. The scarf has taken it, altered the lyrics and is now mocking me.
This is the scarf that never ends
Yes it goes on and on my friend
Some gal started knitting it
Thinking what a simple pattern it was
And she'll continue knitting it
Forever just because...
(Repeat forever with tempo matching the speed of my needles.)
I thought it was a good idea. A "simple" 4 x 4 rib is something I really like due to it being straightforward in style with just enough of a wavey flow to it. On size 10- or in this case 10- 1/2 needles, it's deep enough to give room for smooshing yet not too deep where you look like some sort of creature is strangling you. I made myself one in a light grey years go. I thought I was safe.
I got the yarn I needed and got to work. Then there was the hiatus. I saw hiatus when I should say lull. Realistically I should say that they only yarn out was the random skeins stuck in the bookshelf ( and their removal made P, my husband very pleased.) Wedding plans, getting settled into new house, and changing random legal things from a name no one could pronounce or spell to a more "standard" name took the scarf's time. It got some time but not enough to please it so it got angry.
It now mocks me. If a scarf could tisk I think it would. Rather it just makes sure the yarn tangles up enough when I get on a roll. I knitted and knitted. Then it was two WIPs so I knitted and I knitted. The second, the baby wrap blanket soon was abandoned once it was almost done and resembled more of a baby taco than the baby burrito is was hinted at by a similar pattern. I know my gauge was right. I think the scarf did it. It scared it.
Knit knit knit knit growl knit knit knit. Check progress.... oh look if two inches. Check clock....oh look it's time for bed, well 2 hours ago. I get discouraged and of course that means new WIP. The Hawks scarf just flies after a slight snag being losing bamboo circulars and a supersaver skein of black yarn. (I think it was a sign bc then I knit it double strand and it was just right.) Even throughout tho the scarf is out and worked on. It continues to mock me.
So now it is again one of two WIPS. One can wait a bit since garter stitch is something that always works when watching television. It's up on the shelf not quick hidden since A, my best friend "found" it last night. It really needs to go in the closet where it is out of sight.
I am determined to finish the scarf though. Two late nights of "thinking" I would have it done ended up with it having a yarney victory and me heading upstairs to bed bleary eyed and muttering once again that I'd finish it tomorrow.
....on and on my friend.... hm hm hmmm hm hmmm....

this blog interrupts your cold scheduled napping
I'm starting to feel human again. After getting hit by a really bad cold, I've been worn out the past few days. I know now I had been fighting it, on a minor level, for quite some time. I just didn't realize it til now.
My knitting has been on hiatus. When I know I'm fully rid of this, I'll pick it back up. Plus I know not wanting to pick it up was part of not feeling well.
I'm done w the 365 for now. A dead camera starting the pause and it just went from there. I think I'll just give it a few months and then start it again as around two. I wasn't happy w the photos and feeling a bit unininspired due to the limits of what I could do, esp night stuff w cold weather doesn't really work outside.
On a brighter note, we got the couch cover. No more red/green/gold plaid w the lighter gold filagree leaf. It's gonna be a nice grey-ey blue and much much much more soothing.
Ok time for another nap. I'm so glad I'm feeling better but I need to remember not to push myself thinking I'm 100%.

It's string cheese but not that stringy
I'm always looking for new good food and when it involves cheese that always adds to it. I shop at Aldi and won't deny it. Why pay extra for food when there are tons of really good stuff there as well? PLUS I saw something on tv about Aldi and how there are a lot of name brand stuff that starts out in the same place as the stuff there. Hmmmm markup much? Sooo I picked up the Fit & Active string cheese. It's good but not as string-ing as I had thought. I'd still get it again though.
The Fit & Active Southwest Veggie stuffed sandwich + mexican cheese sprinkled on top and melted + Louisiana Hot Sauce = YUM!
As you can see I've been food/receipe hunting more so lately. I don't deny we ate good stuff before but after awhile when you look at a lot of the packaged/frozen food it's a bit scary. Healthy vs "non" has been more of a focus. I'm not giving up junk food or sweets but if I can eat fresh pasta w some sort of a sauce vs the frozen kind in a bag I'm going fresh. It tastes so much better.
I joined one of the health/nutrition/food diary sites. I kept everything set as private since it's more so a me thing rather than using forums and whatnot, not that I don't read them after all. As above, we ate healthy which is good (YAY!) but we are even more so now (YAY YAY YAY!)
I haven't knitted as much as I have liked to lately. I was sick for awhile again and feared to contaminate any of the stuff I was making. I'll pick it up again soon.
We got a couch that needs a cover and throw pillows. Joann Fabrics has some really cute patterns and I'm thinking to try my hand at sewing. If I make it patchwork based I don't think it'd be too too hard.

Attempt 1: semi productive
I'm trying to stick to my resolutions and so far I think it has been semi productive for almost one month in...
1. Try something new that is out of my comfort zone, but not dangerously so.
Check - went to the hospital to visit Turnip the day she was born. I hate going to hospitals. They just freak me out. Maternity ward didn't have as many IVs or needles or tubes as the last time I was in a general ward. That stuff makes me all woozy.
2. Get more organized.
A slow start. I need to work on it esp w the cat insistant on knocking things off the shelves in my closet. I specifically bought baskets so he couldn't knock the stuff off the shelf. Now he just takes down the entire basket. UGH.
3. Continue working on a healthier life.
Weekly class, check. Treadmill, semicheck - shoulder/neck pain + offkilter schedule not helping. I just need to get on it and go for at least 20 mins. Food choices - NOT diet - wheat pasta, more fresh fruit, not cutting out snacky/sweets but not making that initial choices when hungry, less soda
4. Make sure I make time for me.
Yes and no. I'm trying to make 8-9pm me time. Then I can get some relax time before bed and not go to bed all wired.
5. Get the library card reinstated and read more.
Check, last batch of books due Sat and I will be getting more.
6. Finish WIPs and try to keep no more than two on the needles.
Ih, as always, ih and of course there is a new pattern I want to start. Stupid mittens are mocking me bc I should wait.
7. Travel w The Husband on an us only trip even if it's a short weekend one.
Time not yet allowed
8. Try new recipes - cooking and baking.
Kick n Chicken green bean pasta is a start.
9. Teach Molly a new trick.
She's learning high five and if she is laying down it works.
10. Take more pictures include doing a 365 project.
Started. WOOHOO!

Grrr Arrrrg - Cue little finger puppet
Today is a stompy day, rather this evening. Stuff around the house that needs to be done is being done - minus this quick entry - and that is good. I'd rather to be doing something else but knowing this is done will make me happy. I'd rather Little Cat be doing something else as well since running up the chair, bouncing off the wall, running down the chair, off the hope chest, turning around, bounding back the way he came, run aroudn the floor, REPEAT is getting annoying. Meh. Meh. Meh.
A good side though was my smoothie this morning made me go "nah" as I walked past Dunkin Donuts. Yay! Don't get me wrong I'm not totally anti-donuts but I feel so much better w a smoothie breakfast. It keeps with my get/stay healthy new years resolution as well. I'm doing pretty good w them so far.
Todays 10 for Tuesday: 10 Fav sports moments...errr well 4.
1. White Sox winning world series
2. Being on TV due to a Erstad home run a couple of years ago.
3. Watching the Hawks play new years day in the 09 Winter classic
4. Going to my first Cubs game w my Cubs fan hubby and being on tv serious faced with everyone else dancing around
Ok now I'm off to get whatever it being kitty-chomped on right now and back to work.
