Smaller than the Super Saver skein.

I am not a person, I am a cat bed.

We have had Bond, the new kitten, for just over a week now. He has gone from fraidey cat in extreme to galloping blur of black and white followed or following a galloping blur of orange and white. You never realize just how much noise two cats - well one in mini - can make running amuck on hardwood floors. I don't mind it for the most part - when they are not knocking mail off the coffee table.

Bond is currently sleeping in the crook of my left arm and Frankie is asleep at my feet. Now when I try to get off the couch to actually go to bed, I forsee two meow buckets - one wanting his nightly treat and the other deciding it is time to play. If not it seems like 3 or 4 am is the best time.

I am on the last skein of the Lambchop song WIP. It seems like I just started to finish up the last skein but I'm still going. I have the two Irish scarves in the works as well. Those are fine as long as I don't forget where I am count wise.

I am continuing my love of Trader Joe's. We did a TJ run on Friday and picked up one of their cold bags as well. The plan is to have a hot/cold bag + several regular "green" bags in both the car and the truck so we don't forget. It is something we plan to do but not always remember so I think it is a good idea.

Another good idea - found from the SP group - is a wall of rubbermaid tubs with my yarn. Realistically, I won't have a wall. Having a hubby happy to not be attacked by randomly stashed skeins or kitty playland of yarn makes it all worth while. It will also help w the current bags now liking to let random stuff fall out. Today I opened the closet, took out my knitting bag, and my feet were greated by pink/yellow combo crochet thread. Ooops.

Harry Potter & babysitting

Not at the same time of course!

My MIL and I went to see Harry Potter: The Exhibition at the Museum of Science and Industry yesterday. The exhibit was amazing and it took us a little over an hour to go through it. We both are readers at museums to every plaque, plate, and posting was read. I loved seeing the details of the costumes up close. I loved Professor Trelawney's sweater and, of course, was staring at it trying to figure it out - looks like garter stitch to just below the armpit area being the only different part of the stitches. I've added it to the someday list. My MIL is a seamstress so she was looking at how the costumes were made as well. Camera's were not allowed in the exhibit and so was not worth the risk of trying w my phone but I was able to get a shot of the flying car which was out in the main museum. THAT made me wish I had brought a camera, a regular one, but being able to see it and get a cellphone pic worked just enough.

P & I babysat Turnip, who I am retiring that nickname. So-Big is one of her more so used one so I think I'll stick w that one for awhile. When I got back from the museum she was already there. Luckily she is a happy baby so not too much fussing. I don't think it is possible NEVER to get a no fuss what so ever day with any baby. Luckily she loves mirrors so the few times she fretted it was straight to the bathroom and moments later I had a giggling baby with me.

Today I'm pretty worn out so it's been knitting and laundry. I am "watching" the Bears game, watching Grey's season premiere (OMG) - both parts, and drinking Tazo Awake tea. I am out of Almond Butter and so hoping for Trader Joe's run where I plan to get two jars. I didn't last time and I should have esp since that has become a staple.

Another staple due to the garden has been tomatoes. I've been adding them to almost everything. Today I brought in four more from the yard. It'll be sad when the weather gets cold and I can't just go out into the garden. Next year I plan to have as much produce be from our garden rather than the store. It just need to plan out what to plant and how much room it all will need. I am debating a bench or to repaint one of the plastic deck chairs left when we got the house in that area as well.

We didn't get out hiking but with the leaves changing color I think it's motivation to get out there. I can't help it but love the cliche leaves turning colors photos. They end up too too beautiful in the right light.

In saying that I walked home today, I don't mean from the general bus stop. That I do daily and while it is a short distance, it's still nice esp after sitting on the bus. The bus i was on didn't do the full loop. While I know this varies, I had hoped to not be on one - not knowing since the schedules don't specify. Next time I'll just play Frogger to get across the one semi busy street. Nonetheless the walk felt good and I know it will help me sleep well, that is, if the dog doesn't make a ruckus again today.

My knitting has gone on hiatus for a bit since life in general has been hectic and tired eyes + knitting can lead to a migraine which I don't need. I've been keeping an eye on not eating too much extremely salty/processed foods in an attempt to see if they were triggering them. I know that nitrates are supposed to do that as well so why not chemicals I can't pronounce. So far so good.

NOM BOMB

We are currently out of greek yogurt and this photo is making running out to get some quite tempting. The fact that we have to be out in about 2 hrs - that time including getting ready time - smushes that idea.

I'm reading a new book - Cream Puff Murder by Joanne Fluke. (http://www.murdershebaked.com/) and in it as some receipes that look quite tasty. One is for carrot cake cookies so I've had carrot cake on the brain now. I'm debating making carrot cake muffins tomorrow. I found a receipe that looks good. There isn't any cream cheese in the fridge so that has it on pause. While I know that there is no rule that the frosting is needed, I always think of it. I'll prob keep some plain for breakfast too.

I got a good three hours of work knitting last night. It continues to taunt me but it's progressing. I think I may need help - Turnip's aunt - to make sure the size works before her/her mom/my friend actually gets it.

My BIL and soon to be sister-in-law set a date - August 15. I'm excited for them since they haven't been able to decide on a date for some time. It's an informal reception at our house (which will make this house in immaculate condition) and lowkey = so them. I can't see them doing ANYTHING that can be considered fussy/foo foo.

I don't know if there will be seedling of that sort next year.

I do plan to start seedling early. Someone mentioned getting a mini greenhouse which would work if I knew Frankie wouldn't swat it off whatever. If I could anchor/weigh it down, it might though.

Speaking of cats, I'm doing better with Jabba being gone. I know it will take time but people have been super supportive and giving kind words which means a lot. I'm focusing on the silly stuff he did like the time I was sitting in the kitchen with my back to the cubby under the stairs. I heard noise and open it slowly thinking it was the mouse that ate all our grassseed last winter. There I see a black and white cat butt sticking out of the dog biscuit box and I'm talking up in the air. Of course when I get the camera, he is looking at me like he has no idea what just happened and Frankie is beind him with the same expression.

Goodbye sweet kitty

Jabba got sick in a matter of about a day. We noticed he was not quite himself last night. Tonight when I got home it was clear he was worse - very lethargic, not eating. A came by and we found out he was really sick. I'm crying as I type this and I know I will be for awhile tonight. I miss him already and I know the others know something is wrong.

RIP Jabba

I've started putting my blog roll together which will help me too - less time clicking through my favorites. I've noticed that they fall into a few general categories - knitting, crafting, sewing, food, fashion, and fitness.

I did Jillian Michael's Cardio Kickbox for the first time today. I was gross and all melty from weeding so I figured why not. Plus not letting yourself get cleaned up until after you work out is great motivation. It says to do it once a week so I am going to try to do that. It's a little under 30 mins so it is a perfect amount of time. I was sweating by the end of it. The house being 80 inside probably had something to do with that too.

I figured out that I knitted for almost 4 hours last night. I went into mindnumbing autoknitting which I honestly don't mind esp when the gauge keeps itself in check. I think I did overdo it a bit since it felt like I was still knitting as I tried to go to sleep. I've kept the needles down today and since it is getting late, will probably keep them away. My eyes need a bit of a break every now and then and I have really been working on it.

So the goal of finishing the last two skeins has been modified. While I still plan to get those two done, I am going to add a border to make it larger and therefore more useful. Will it take longer? Of course, but knowing it will be used more makes it worth it.

Plus then I can start on some Christmas knitting. My goal was to start it in August this year. I have 4 things planned - two for someone else to give other people - so I know there will be a lot to do but it's not like a month or two.

Safe to say ask me again in November.

Hello flowerbed I know you are in there

We uncovered part of the flowerbed today so it is good that I got this crazy picture. A bit is saved so we have more for cooking + seeds to move it, or rather try to move it to a new place for next year.

My earbud headphones are driving me batty today and I have no idea why. I had plotted knitting and watch/listen to something but I keep fiddling with them. I have my old huge headphones from when I worked radio SOMEWHERE but they aren't in the same place I had them last, or rather the last place I remember them being so it is a bit annoying. I'm at the moment stuck listening to P play NHL09 on Xbox. It's decent music but not my choice.

Pandora is now limiting its music play to 40 hours a month which I can understand it a reasonale amount. I know I use more than that esp since they sent me an email letting me know of the hour cap. Hmmm there is an option to pay for a year which isn't horrid but I can't justify spending that right now.

My sunburn is peeling which is good since it hurts less in some places now. I found out WHY the sunblock didn't do so great. It's a good 3.5 yrs old. It must have been with the stuff in the back of the cabinet I packed up when we moved. OOPS!

April NO July NO June NO May

Dear Mother Nature,

Please pick a month and/or stay with it weather wise, or at least somewhat in the same range. This crazy jumping around is not fun for cute outfit planning nor does it do well with keep the snuffly head/coughy combo away.

Thank you.

&heart;
MBMY

The sunburn is going away sooner than later which is nice. While I do look like I'm molting I'd rather it now since that means it wasn't a horrid burn, just a pretty bad one. While I can do without it being itchy, I'll take it over the omg owwwwwww that woke me up the night prior. It'd still be nice to sleep through the entire night without it waking me up. Maybe tonight ::crosses fingers:: This entire "adventure" will have me getting the spray can sunscreen before the next trip.

I ended up knitting for a little over two hours last night and it was great. I didn't watch anything while doing so, just had some music playing. It doesn't seem like much was done overall I can see the difference. The yarn was making odd blotchy patterns that were almost squarelike at the end of the last skein. I'm glad it stopped a bit before the end. So far no squares with the start of the fifth one. One more after than and then it's done.

I have so much queued up due to it being cool/cute/silly/practical/something for a gift for a friend/family member/Turnip. I do need a quick knit wrap though I am not sure what yarn to use. I would really like to try avacado with an ice blue but I'm not sure. Plus yarn shopping is something I'm trying to plot out before I takeover a room. Well more than a room that is allotted for such. P will have his mancave in the garage which leads me to have more space in the office for my crafty stuff. I just need to keep the cats out of it, or rather Frankie who likes to open drawers. He helps clean them out then as was the case not too long ago. Stuff in a pile meets kitty looking at me like he had no idea why I was yelling at him.

So is my life.

5th of July beach trip

The 4th this year was chilly and rainy for most of the day. We ended up staying in for most of the day as well til the evening. We went to watch the OL fireworks with the usual group, having a good time as always. It was drizzling very faintly so they didn't have the live music as in years past but that totally makes sense. Electricity and water + people don't mix. The show was quite good and a but heavy on red/gold ones this year not that I minded, just an observation.

We decided go to the beach and headed out to Michigan on the 5th. It was our first trip out for the summer which is always exciting. The cooler was packed - much to the enjoyment of the pups too since we had too much ice, not enough freezer room, and a need to not let it all just melt. It did melt, but after they chomped on it a bit. We had two wet faced happy dogs.

The weather cooperated in that it was sunny and lower 80s. The water was a bit too chilly for me to actually swim in it but I did end up about knee deep which cooled me off a bit. P & C threw the football around in the water and ended up having someone's lab want to join in. He sooo wanted the ball even though it was too big for him to catch. C tried and the pup gave a good try. The owners seemed nice but we didn't really talk to them. L & I stayed on our towels catching the rays.

The rays got us all later even with sunblock. P and I are both burnt and sharing a bottle of aloe. I ended up getting the big sunhat that I wanted today. Next time I'll be ready and have a non burnt nose.

Luckily with makeup it isn't too too too horrible looking.

This blog break brought to you by quick dry poly varnish!

I am a little woozy due to our living room smelling like varnish. Windows are open but after the second coat I have retreated upstairs - which is NOT 500 degrees due to the latest change in temperature. Other than the piece of wood at the threshold being done one of the bookends I made in jr high is done as well.

Yes, I know, one when there is two and jr high was a LONG time ago. I was a bit surprised how dark part of the wood ended up since beforehand. It looks nice but didn't seem to hint at that much fo a contrast. Once I find the other one then that can be done too though we are only using one so that works.

I am currently going though my closet in spurts. I get tired of doing so if I sit all day so it works best to do a little, stop, restart etc. With one more garage sale this summer and the possible church yardsale with the MIL, I should keep at it so it is not a rush two days before. Luckily the short notice of the last sale worked in my favor since I had stuff semi ready.

The closet can finally be swapped to the summer mode. I had things to wear but the actual summer clothes weren't needed for so long and the bought of crazy humidity kept me from it as well. I'm not looking forward to all the clothes though since I know there will be stuff that doesn't fit anymore. Some is plotted to be put in spacebags with the hope to wear it again someday and others will be sold/donated. I am trying to be realistic esp since I haven't been working out as much as I should lately. I get home and I'm tired so the thought of that sans a class isn't too great. I have my hoop so that is something good plus it is so much fun.

I tried looking for a pattern to use my rug yarn as a bag. Ditto w the crochet cord but didn't find anything. I may go to the 365 peeps (not sure why I used 'peeps' but why not) to see if anyone else has used either. Smart ladies (and guy(s)so someone must know something or have a general idea.

I am ALMOST done with the current skein though it likes to grow as I am moving along. I give it til the end of the week and then a new one starts.

Taste of Chicago is in full swing but isn't really making me want to go this year. They added gates for security reasons since people are dumb and bring a gun or two to the Taste. I don't understand it but as I said stuuuupid to bring a weapon to a family festival and be the one moron in a group of good people. Pffft! i digress so it's security gated entry points which kind of kills my in/samosas/out plan that has worked so well the past few years. Oh well. It not being super sunny made me not want to bring the digicam so perhaps next year.

The giant plant outside the kitchen window is gone. We thought it was some sort of plant in the terms of to be kept but it ended up being some sort of weed that neither of us had seen and Dad ended up telling us. Oops. At least we get more light in now.

Woof Meow Woof Meow

Today was vet day for Molly since she was due for her shots. I had forgotten that the waiting room opened two hours before the actual clinic did. We ended up being there a little over two hours. She, however, barked twice (in a row) and growled though it was more of a grumble once when she thought another dog wanted her cookie. I was hungry and animal crackers are basically the human form of dog biscuits so why not. Overall you have to figure that is not bad esp since the last time she kept rolling around on the floor. It was also a year ago so she was a puppy puppy not a 50lb puppy/dog.

I'm still working on the latest WIP. I've stopped the hectic pace on it - keeping it rapid as possible but stressing over knitting never works well. I end up dropping a stitch or messing up my gauge just enough that I notice. Overall it is fine but I know it is there.

Nixmusic will be heading to Alaska this week so no knit nights for awhile. I don't mind at all though esp since I can't wait to hear about her most recent trip there. I do hope to travel there someday. It's on my someday list.

Do I really need a new hobby?

I gained $9.50 from my share of things sold at the garage sale. True it is not that much money but that is less stuff and some happy people including a little girl who was thrilled to get a plastic set of play dishes. There are two more sales of sort plotted for the rest of the summer. I know I have more stuff to try to get rid of since I just found some more toys that could have gone out with the other stuff.

I also gained a few boxes of craft/sewing stuff. Do I need more crafty items? No but really how could I not! Fabric, buttons, and crochet thread. I don't crochet. I know people who do and I have nothing against it but it wasn't something that I picked up on. Perhaps it's needing to get a better hang on knitting - like lace and cables - first. Soooo now with this bunch I have the opportunity to try when I so feel like it.

Of course that will be when the latest WIP is done. A little over two more skeins. It is looking really good but I am wary it won't be enough and then I need to add a border. I really don't have the extra yarn cash to buy a ton of yarn right now. I'm debating but I do plan to get this done asap. I'm hoping it will be fine.

After this is done, I am sooooo just picking a PATTERN and doing that. :)

Grr

I love my dog. I truly honestly absolutely do but she is being a pain. I woke up this morning to barking and she jumped the fence AGAIN. D is sitting there not even realizing that they both got out. Cosmo can open the screendoor so everyone has to watch. With the new Ghostbusters game getting the majority of his attention - a cool game, that I understand - they snuck out. So the barking lead me to going outside which led me to finding her in the neighbor's yard.

NOT HAPPY.

It seems that Molly climbed out/jumped out but with the smooth side of the fence on the other side couldn't get back and she is too heavy for me to lift. I got her leash and went and got her but it's a good thing Lucy, their dog, wasn't out. I don't know how they would interact.

We got a yard lead which P isn't too thrilled about but if she's out a long time we need to at least try it. With our street fairly busy for a residential neighborhood I don't want an injured dog.

What? Are you calling me?

I was upstairs earlier today and kept hearing "yarn...yarn...yarn...yarn" from the kitchen. Thinking I was being mocked by the one who actually had a mullet, I came downstairs to find him trying to upload pictures from our camera. I didn't realize that he had to transfer them all and he didn't understand why all the yarn pictures. When I told him it was for Ravelry a knit/crochet site his wtf expression didn't change.

I love it. I laughed so hard.

Sookie Stackhouse book 1 is done. I can't wait to start the others. I ended up getting (finally) Twilight from the library. I had put it on request months ago. Not thinking the movie was briliant, I decided I best read the book so I can justify my pfffttt-ing at it. We will see.

Frankie is semi-napping in the window making his deflating sound. (I've heard a cat sigh before but never like he does esp when it's various pitches and so almost melodic.) It's the end of the weekend while I do know that lots was done it still feels like it went by too quickly. Perhaps that is the key, stuff was completed/started/attemped.

I attacked the giant weeds that were trying to take over the yard. Hugo - as in Hugo thinks he is the boss - gave the biggest of the fights. I know I should have just pulled the bull thistle when it was smaller but forgetting it led to it getting preeeetty big which made me wonder just how big can it get. It was more so til I was sick of it. I was looking at it while hooping yesterday - which I still need to do today - and decided it was going out w this weeks yard waste bins. I do have a nice place for that wildflower mix since it is gone.

Gardening adventures have continued with the purchase of self-watering flower pots for the tomatoes and the pepper plant. I've never grown hot peppers before so I hope they do well.

Our hammock is still not up and in a way that is a good thing. Today was a perfect sit in the hammock day. Frankie agress as he makes another deflating sound. He, however, is not allowed outside and would probably get stuck in the hammock anyways.

I know I posted a different blog.

Yet it is not here. This is quite odd. Good thing it was short and not really more than yabbering.

I have ended up with a good amount of stuff for the garage sale. It isn't a ton ton ton of stuff but enough to justify being part of it. I'm realistically hoping to make $20. I know it's not a lot of money but I figure if I think some crazy amount that totally is not valid - say $150 - it won't happen and I'll be a bit discouraged. I think of it too that esp with the kid stuff, someone out there will enjoy it and it is much better than sitting in a box in the attic. I did keep quite a bit of stuff but since P and I are planning to have a family someday kid books, esp the ones that are learning ones as well as storybooks, are a must. I'm a big believer in reading to kids even at a "super early" age. Turnip isn't quite 5 months yet and M reads to her, so much that she recognizes books, or magazines and that the pages turn.

Mulletboy - our friend/roommate PM's new name for now - actually got one. I cannot believe he would seriously go out and get one but luckily he plans to get a real haircut to get rid of it. It WAS a joke and all but it is still disturbing esp with aviator sunglasses. I keep wanting to watch Fast Times at Ridgemont High ever since he got back from getting it cut.

I got some weeding done this afternoon which is good minus the scrape on my right index finger that I forsee slowing my knitting a bit. It's just enough to be a bit of a owe! in that minor annoying because it barely hurts sense. I did get a bunch of work done on the blanket earlier today. It is in that mocking state since that skein is almost finished. I plan to see if I can get it done tonight since the guys will be up late as well.

New blooms yet seriously, where is summer?

New blooms

I ended up wearing my legwarmers, which were actually one of the first things I ever knitted, home today. EEP! I'm seriously thinking of making another set in a more springish color. I do have the multiple skiens of pink from Big R's mom's basement.

The last few days have been quite the whirlwind. I know there was a weekend but it went by so quickly. Friday was M's birthday at the irish pub that smelled like varnish or wood glue or something. It was a nice place but every now and then I couldn't help but stop and think of how odd of a smell there was inside.

Saturday was my super day of running amuck. After living my entire life in the Chicagoland area, I finally made it to Printers Row Book Fair. I had planned in the past but for one reason or another never quite made it. This year there were two authors that were speaking that I had hoped to see, and go all fangirl babbly mode -- Jen Lancaster who was speaking at 11 am and Neil Gaiman who was speaking at noon. I later read that the tickets were sold out and was not happy one bit til I realized it was Neil Gaiman since he was inside the Library. Phew. If it was both I'd not bothered going downtown. I still had quite the adventure.

I deliberately left extra time to get downtown figging it was a book fair and all and I'd browse a bit. I brought Pretty in Plaid with me, since it was a speak/sign event, with the last bit to read on the el/waiting for her to speak. I get on the train at Midway after waiting for the doors to open for awhile (first sign something was odd - Saturday or not that was a bit of a wait) and we just sit there. I read, check the time on my phone and not too long passes until we're on our way. Then a bit later the train stops and we find out that they are doing railwork and we wait and we wait. I try not to get livid since I had been looking foward to this and wasn't sure how long the speaking engagements last. If I get there and everthing is done, I was going to be in a foul mood for the rest of the day and having M's bachelorette party that evening, I really didn't want to be in such a state.

After what seems like ages, I get to my el stop, jet off the train and manage to get past the adorable little munchkin and her mom that were using up 90% of the staircase as they walked ahead of me. I'm literally running down the street to the corner, realize I shouldn't be running since I looked a bit kooky, was out of breath (and seriously needing to get back on the fitness routine,) and if I missed it there was nothing I could do.

After all the grr-ing and channeling parts in Jen Lancaster's writing about the wacky el people/bus people, I get to the tent. I did miss part of her time at the mic but the time I managed was funny. She is as witty in person as in her books. I was able to have my book signed and she was kind enough to take a picture. (I'm sooo grinning like a goofball.)

Since I was in the area I took a trip to Loopy Yarns to browse (which included getting a cute grey felted sheep notions pouch that will work very well) since when in a super hyper mood why NOT add to it and go to a LYS that makes total sense. Ysolda Teague was there with her book and samples. Nixmusic and I had planned to go to Nana's on Tuesday and so I didn't get the book then and there but chatted a bit and took a picture together.

Now it's time to unwind with some Gossip Girl (the things you "find" on "regular" TV after getting rid of the cable TV that you rarely watched.) and S's blanket. Well try to unwind since Cosmo has now figured out how to unlock the baby gate that keeps them both in "dogland" as we call the family room. So far a twist tie is keeping him stuck but who knows for how long.

Note: my photo's aren't formatting right so I will need to go back to this later.

Vienna Boys/Talking Heads

I am in a Talking Heads mood. What's even better??? The Vienna Boys Choir covering Burning Down the House. It's disturbingly annoyingly addictive. I fully think the song - cover or not - is one of those must dance about to it. I'm trying to figure out a 365 for it. I'll have to think it over otherwise I'll end up with me just rocking out.

I've slacked off a bit on my phototaking. Today's was a result of not sure if the red blotchiness was an allergic reaction to something or my being a bit over zealous with the face scrub. While I know the ladies - and guy or two - probably don't really care, I haven't had a chance to actually talk to any and not care with the whole I look like crap. That was one of the reasons I stopped before as well.

I do have a crazy idea that will take some time to set up. I'm plotting it for the near future. I know P will think I'm kooky but it will end up quite cool. Just need to make sure I have the furniture set up correctly so the framing it right.

So my non-photo time has lead to more knitting and more SLEEP. Oh sleep how I've missed you. I don't know why I wasn't sleeping well but at least 2 weeks if not more got to the point where it was annoying.

I was looking up LYS in the Milwaukee area a bit earlier. I'm figuring w A & nixmusic both being interested in a trip to the Cedarburg Winery we might as well. A isn't a knitter but wandering a bit is something I think she'll tolerate.

So that's what the back of the fridge looks like

I woke up today to find that P was on a cleaning kick last night which was quite sweet of him since I had a day off today. (I had gone to bed early since I was dozing while watching a movie.) That way I didn't have to do the major kitchen clean up. It was all sparkly and shiney - the parts that could be sparkly and shiney of course. If the cutting board was all glittery I'd be concerned unless there was a note that Edward was on ice in the backyard. (I can't help it - making fun of Twilight is just SO much fun. True I will read the books so that I can justify my laughter but it is still FUN.)

I spent a good amount of time knitting which is always nice. The sun was coming in through the blinds and it all was so relaxing. If we didn't have to do stuff today - eat lunch, put on shoes, run errands etc, I probably would have spent the majority of the day on that couch.

M and Turnip came by again today. I'm getting spoiled even with her headbutting me then crying. She was cranky as babies can be and I was telling her that I knew being a baby was a hardlife and bouncing her about. She stopped eventually and had everyone looking at her as usual. She's too adorable so it totally makes sense. She better get used to it - when she has an idea of what is going on of course.

Right now I'm sitting here with that wonky pre-headache headache. I took some of the magic pills known as Exedrin Migrane and am hoping it will kick in since I had hoped to either watch The Bachelorette online or read a bit. Realistically I think the book/bed combo will work.

I'll be back.... once it is on DVD

P and I went to a mantinee of Terminator Salvation yesterday morning. Being up early on a Saturday is not my favorite thing to do but it was totally worth it. We've found that just going to the early show is the better deal. It's $6-7 per ticket - the lesser being if you go in person to get the tickets. We chose the ones online which worked out since the exit we took took us about 10 minutes out of our way. Yes, exit as in expressway exit. Nothing against my neighborhood but the theater about 20 mins or so away is worth it since it's newer.

I am debating whether to go weed or work on laundry. Exciting, I know but they go two fold since I can actually hang it up on the line. I insisted on having one at the house though I didn't actually USE it for awhile - stupid birds, our patio is NOT a toilet. I know this summer we'll get more use of it as well. Eco-savvy as well as a reminder of being a little kid running through the sheets drying on the line.

I was discussing sewing machines w my MIL last nite and she recced going to Joanns bc then you get FREE sewing lessons. FREE. SEWING. LESSONS. Once our household budget gets better - stupid recession based layoffs - I'm going to be saving up for one. I know I can put aside a bit of my paychecks now but I'd rather wait.

PLUS I still need to finish S's blanket....before she outgrows it. Realistically it's half done. I used the time I was "watching" Forgetting Sarah Marshall to work on it. Bad movie, good progress.

Productivity, welcome back

I hate river rock. As a child, I got the job of weeding the river rock. Now I get to weed my own river rock and I did today. 3 hours later a good chunk of the yardwork I had planned to do was done. I was smart this time though and made sure I hadn't just put on new nailpolish like I've done before. Pretty polish and weeding? Suuuuuuuure. Nevertheless, it looks much much much better and I'm happy it's done. Tonight I will fall asleep, after taking some Tylenol so my back doesn't kill in the morning, knowing it's part of attacking the greenery of our property.

I know it's one of those things were some people might not think it's a big deal. Buying a house from a super garden lady has raised the bar and my knowledge of gardens. I helped as a kid but I always knew what was there. We have the adventure of guessing if it is a weed or a plant since there are so many different types. At least this year we have a better idea. Well minus one giant plant - possibly a perinnial that is bi-yearly. ::shrugg:: Other than weeding the back walkway and starting to, rather continuing to battle the grass that thinks it needs to live in our flowerbeds, it's more so transplant/plant this year. The bushes we planned to pull out are looking to be ok until next year. The peach fuzz induced by the grass seed has priority to get rid of the dirt patch that was the weedpatch that we didn't realize was as big as it really was before.

I ended up watching most of that Haunting of Molly Hartley movie. I missed a good part of the plot reveal since MD stopped by and I was talking to her. So the movie was not as creepy as I had though, still eerie and I did jump but perhaps I missed the really scary parts when I was outside.

I got more of the blanket done again today. Jabba came to investigate but didn't pounce this time.

I am listening to my 90s Dance Jams station on Pandora. Tevin Campbell's Round and Round is on now. This is a reason why I adore Pandora. I had forgotten about this song and I used to love it.

Rambo mouse

Over the winter the mouse eating our grass seed stored in the shed made sense. It was cold and snowy. It was like a tin-roofed buffet. While we were not thrilled with it, there was logic behind it.

Today I found out he got in the bag of charcol. THAT makes no sense. We will now be storing it in one of those giant flip top Tidy Cat kitty litter buckets. If he gnaws through that I'm going to be a bit worried.

For now, when in the yard I'll be looking for a mouse w Rambo face paint.

Audio books perhaps are a good thought

I've been heading to the library every two weeks or so. This really isn't that big of a deal since I've gone there as long as I can remember. I was one of those little kids you see toddling around. (If only I can find the books about the peanut butter/jelly elf or an elf that liked pb & j that I used to get ALL of the time. My future kids would then be read them.) I've picked up some good stuff, some ih stuff, some meh stuff and as always craft related stuff. One of the most recent trips brought back French Girl Knits and I love it.

True, I have never made a sweater nor have I cabled. I need to start my merry way into Sockland as well but this book has me mesmerized. I will definitely be making something once I get my happy butt knitting sweaters. February Lady Sweater has long been on the cue for sweaters so that is first. :)

The blanket is progressing, slowly but progressing. I've stopped stopping to look a the progress, and then grrring at it, and rather just cue up something to watch and leave a good portion in the bag on my lap. It's helping as well as keeping it out of the mouth of Jabba. For such a massive cat, he could really pounce on the yarn quite quickly. Luckily it was pounce - bat bat - pounce and he was done. I'm thinking our purchase and use of the Furminator has put him in a good mood. Heaven forbid I forget to immediately brush him and all I still get is kitty attitude. You would figure he knows he WILL get his attention afterall.

Foto Furrsday: Ok, stop it with that flashy thing I'm napping.

Foto Furrsday: The better to kick you with, my dear

I'm always chasing the cats around with the camera or they just end up in awwww moments. This is much to The Hubby's delight esp when he finds 50 new pet pictures in the camera.

SOOO I figured why not start something new - Foto Furrsday.

The purrbuckets get this week. I haven't decided if I am going to revolve or just go with whatever works/happens.

The Furminator

IS
AMAZING.

I seriously wish we had gotten one earlier. With the two barking furballs and the two purring ones in the house, it is safe to say there is pet hair. True there will always be pet hair but there will definitely be less of it now. I felt like a little kid chasing around the cats.

I started the 365 again today. I am feeling more creative, more with it, and not plagued by constant headcolds. I will get attacked by allergies esp with working in the garden but I look less terrifying w that rather than the cold induced undereye circles. Extra for a zombie movie anyone?

Homebound today I couldn't help but ponder why women wear white sweatpants. I hated sweatpants. I can still remember the era when pulling the bottoms of your sweatpants up on your calves/up to your knees was a fashion statement not some gang signal. I ended up buying a full set - top and bottom - for a Halloween costume and was surprised with how the pants don't have the elastic gatherings at the ankles. Yes, it has been awhile. I am not a fan of white pants either. Too much to sit on. Bad time of the month and being brave and trusting and a bit crazy and boom you are now the center of attention. So today there were sweatpants out in the wild. White sweatpants. Scary scary white sweatpants.

Hands off the yarn and in the dirt

This weekend was one of the first where I ended up with dirt under my nails and that odd feeling in my fingertips from pulling weeds out of the river rock. I really hate weeding river rock. As a kid I would help my parents with the gardens/outside/etc and often that would be my portion of helping. It really makes sense though - little fingers, no worries of accidentally pulling an actual flower. Rather than just extending the flower bed (would be ugh) or extending the asphalt of the driveway (would be slightly odd) they added rock. We had discussed adding paver bricks - the large sized ones - to extend the driveway without pouring asphault/whatever stinky goopy alternate there is. They have some great ground cover alternates now like ones made from recycled tires but that is just asking to be chewed and left all over - in more ways than one.

My cousin has shown interest in knitting which makes me excited. I had made a doll blanket for her daughter that they both liked, well all 3 liked. I hoping some time this summer will be a basic info session to get her started. With a one year old there may not be super long stretches of knitting time for her but it's still a good way to unwind even if you only have a few minutes.

My current WIP is hanging in its bag in a backpack from a gorillapod from our railing. None of them really should be there but even though it got no work done on it I was in my mind this weekend. I'm really hoping though it doesn't end up an odd size. I think I got enough yarn but worst case I can edge it. The perks of ombre yarns is that looks good too.

YAY YAY Vacation day!

I am thoughly enjoying my day off as it is in lazy day mode. If it had been bright and sunny warm-ish day sans rain I'd prob be outside right now. For now, I am content staying inside, away from the drizzle/damp weather, finishing my fried baloney sandwich - less salty than I had anticipated, and running errands later.

We ended up picking up some of the new old Mt Dew last weekend. It a "throwback" due to lack of high fructose corn syrup and it being made with natural sugar. I find it amusing that before when sugar was BAD the thought of having that right on the can would be a big no no. I think it tastes good, sweet without that throat ACK that the regular version can cause at times. Am I sold forever on the throwback version, no but if someone offered it to me I wouldn't say no.

I keep debating if I want to see if Joann Fabrics has ball winders in the store. They have them online but I want to SEE them in person. I've never used one and so I don't want to end up getting something that is too extravagent or not enough. My debating though has kept me from frogging a sweater which is a good thing. I really don't need to start a new project.

I'm planning in the near future to sit my happy butt down, watch Prom Night - the remake, and knit. I'm thinking it to be an excellent plan.

super nap

Last night's nap prior to going out later turned into super sleep. (I needed super sleep but didn't realize that until today.) It wasn't that anything bad had happened just timing didn't end up as planned so plans were scapped. I am a firm believer in naps. Naps are good. Some people really could use a nap. If you think of it in terms of toddlers, they get cranky when they need sleep. As adults we forget this, while still getting crabby, and keep pushing on.

This all said I should be in bed now. The joys of the internet once again sucked me in with the glowing goodness and here I am trying to wind down. The Mt Dew and Hershey bar could also be to blame. Same with the last episode of Grey's Anatomy which was streamed online tonight.

That, however, led to knitting which is also good. I got to the point of the dropped stitch, picked that up, and went happily on my way. It's looking quite nice and I forsee myself making more in the future just with a better timeframe/plan.

Blame it on the rain....

Now that I have a certain generation of people with Milli Vanilli stuck in their heads....

The hubby and I had a grand plan for today. After I was done with an errand, we were going to work on that large outside area known as the yard. Known as being the key element since it is in progress/needs work. The people who lived here didn't just have a green thumb, they had a green arm, and clearly more time. While he has more time that I do now, it's the weather that is toying with us. Today it is raining and likes to start/stop just when you want to do something. Realistically though with a squishy yard and the possibility of being outside and somewhat damp, it all goes on the back burner again. We are definitely working to get it better before the dogs decide to tear it up from running in circles and in circles and in circles. Too bad they don't get themselves dizzy because then they'd just stop.

Our neighborhood welcomed this Saturday with the Little League baseball parade. I heard a marching band from our house and had a feeling something was starting at the park nearby. Sure enough there is the local high school marching band leading a string of local town vehicles - fire, police, etc - and misc parent's vehicles with streamers blowing, and kids yelling. It's cute and loud. The neighborhood kids were excited too. I was just like them as a kid, standing at the curb with a plastic bag in my hand awaiting the candy that they were throwing.

More 80s discussions reminded me of an old toy I used to have - Fashion Plates. (http://www.retroland.com/pages/retropedia/toys/item/2585/) I'll be moving some boxes from my parent's attic in the near future and it has me wondering if they are in there. I know there'll be at least one thing to sell at the garage sale this summer.

Speaking of garage sales, there is one this sat/sunday about 4 1/2 blocks from me. I'd hate to be them stuck trying to keep stuff dry.

One thing that is consistent is that I am not consistent

I had noticed last week's Ten for Tuesday '10 Signs that You're Getting Older' and it is somewhat fitting lately.

1. Things/events are dated in years more than 5 - Kurt Cobain has been gone 15 years. My So-Called Life first aired 15 years ago. NIN's Pretty Hate Machine will be 20 yrs old this year. It's slightly unnerving at times with that wait waaaaaaaht? element that kicks in.

2. My unoffical kid brother - the BF's kid brother - is no longer a munchkin. While I know he isn't the same little kid who would kick open closet doors to chuck shoes at our heads or whine til he got a nap and hasn't been for a long time but still.

3. Sliders is all on instant play on Netflix as well as other 90s television. A win win situation since I haven't seen stuff in ages.

4. Cartoons like Captain N: The Game Master is much more cheesy than I remember.

5. The Karate Kid is no longer the cool older kid. He's a kid w a headband stuck painting a fence.

6. 80's is considered retro. THIS will take a long time to get used to and I don't even want to think of when it's the new oldies. Can you really ever think of bands like Wham! as oldies???

7. 80's fashion is a been there, done that, and will be selective in what to bring back in my attire. Living through the neon spandex age once was scary enough.

8. The word reunion isn't just a word but a fact. It's coming this summer.

9. I am part of the unlabled wives/future wives club in my circle of friends. While I know people who married straight out of high school none of us were part of that.

10. Boys are willing to give up a seat on the L out of respect rather than as a way to hit on you. The "ma'am" added totally gave that away not that I'm looking for someone to hit on my on public transportation.

Speaking of public transportation, it seems like there has been a lull in the crazy instances of smushing each other in a car. If you really think of it, the entire thing can be quite terrifying. You are stuffed with a bunch of strangers in a giant metal can with doors that they specifically say not to lean up against so you don't/possibly don't fall out being shot down a metal track that often causes sparks to fall to the street below. It sounds like something out of a B-horror movie if you take it out of context. Taking it, though, as long as I can remember takes the EEEEEK out of it somewhat. When the thing stops though on a sliggggggggght angle that is still unnerving.

I have finished frogging the portion of the blanket now where the dropped stitch was located. I'm just really glad I found it before I got to the end of the skein. It took some time to go back to where I needed to be to fix it. Part of that was spent watching...err talking through is a better phrasing, The Crow: Wicked Prayer aka Crow 4 aka are you serious with this dialogue??? with Nixmusic.

She is making those things that you put on your feet. Those things that you make with the needles with TWO pointy ends. SOCKS. I think socks are like the popcorn someone makes in an office. You smell it, in this case see it and you want it. I'm seriously needing to keep my hands off any sock patterns since I have this WIP to finish + two scaves on cue. Finding my stitch counter will help with that.

I never realized how much of an impact a little plastic barrel going missing can have on the knitting psyche. it totally cuts down knitting time since it's less time consuming than stopping to make a hatch mark on a piece of paper/subscription insert from a magazine/cover of a magazine.

While I do intend to start up the 365 again, I've decided to wait a bit longer til the house is more in order in terms of to-do projects and whatnot. Taking a picture only to discover it's ruined by the giant pile of crap/boxes/etc is not fun. I know getting it in gear is something I need to do. I just am not one for being all gung-ho in organizing stuff that I don't know if I should keep or donate. L is having a garage sale this summer so I know that will be motivation as well.

I just finished Mayhem in High Heels by Gemma Halliday. It was really cute. There are a few others in the High Heels series before this one and I am planning to read those as well. I was never the big myserty person but lately I've found myself reading more of them. Perhaps it's the mesh of a more chick lit humorous style in some of the more contemporary ones. Nonetheless, it helps pass the time on public transportation when my eyes are either too tired to knit or I don't have enough room to comfortably do so without doing my bad interpretation of the Chicken Dance.

Speaking of which I HATE the Chicken Dance. Yuck!

Freebie Freebie

I've starting finding random freebies and coupons online. I figured why not. Plus when I find munchkin stuff I can fwd it to M for Turnip (who is getting so big at 4 months. She already likes Led Zep and cries at Radiohead though the cry may have been for a bottle. We'll see when she's not hungry.)

The free samples list so far:

Nicoderm patch + $7 off coupon - for Mr MBMY when he goes back to trying to quit

Crestwhite strip - one top/bottom = fast teeth brighten when needed

Kotex - tampons, pads in creepy present box.

I signed up for more stuff so lets see what else comes soon.

PLUS my Fitness mag should be starting soon. I got SELF as well. Just need to pay that bill. :)

Frogging a Cosby sweater... well not quite

I have had only one experience frogging a premade sweater. It was royal blue cotton that ended up not working well. That ended up being a good thing once I realized that a good portion of it was stained and so would be the yarn.

I'm not discourage and now, esp w the thought of buying wool yarn right now is not practical - stupid state of the ecomony causing tons of layoffs incl hitting the MBMY household. A and I had a girls' day out and went thrifting on Saturday which is always fun though having a plan is even better than finding the late 80s/early 90s fushia prom dress by chance. I ended up finding some nice wool or wool blend sweaters with the most expensive being $2. (It would probably be a good 3x that for just one skein. I haven't gotten too too too into buying merino but from what I've heard it's not cheap.) They all look like the seams will come apart pretty easily esp since one is already. The black one has flat black buttons coming up the sleeves a good 4 inches from the wrists that are in good condition as well.

If this all goes well then I will be adding a yarn counter to the ball winder on my knitting related wish list.

Overall it's a good thing, recycling, reusing, economical. Plus I want to do before/after pix of what it was and what it become. Also then I can make some wacky stuff like felted cat beds - though I think they will still velcro themselves to my large afghan. I swear they get mad when I want to use it sometimes.

I'm thinking of starting up the 365 again, or rather restart. With the winter funk leading to the plague of a cold that I had and took forever to get rid of, the stress of the layoff and everything else, the thought of taking a picture of myself daily didn't seem that important. Plus the dark circles under my eyes were not what I had wanted to remember and document. I have some ideas for photos to add and an idea or two for a clones shot which I always enjoy seeing people do.

I didn't get a chance to really start talking to anyone in the group which I regret. I know it was just a short time that I posted in it but some of the people in it look really interesting and their work is just plain amazing. I find it inspirational when I see other peoples art/handiwork etc.

Ten on Tuesday: 10 Songs You Hate

1. Send in the Clowns - Judy Collins (shudders)

2. Anything by Rush - it makes me want to break things.

3. Anything by Soulja Boy. He can't spell (and I really do not care if I spell his name right either) or use proper grammar to the extent that it is overdone and just plain annoying. My brain can't rearrange/replace letters fast enough. Again, it makes me want to break things.

4. Metallica - Turn the Page.

5. Anything w too much autotune or that odd synthesizer vocals. Sing people... for real.

6. My Heart Will Go On - Celine Dion Flagline practice to this song was bad enough. The beginning makes me want to swing a large sequined flag over my head while kneeling in mud.
Then IT was part of concert band.

7. Mmmbop - Hanson. Earworm atroscity that is now stuck in my head. Grr.

8. Angel - Sarah McLaughlin. I used to love this song. It used to be able to be seen as somewhat romantic until is got used for tragedies and dog/pet related commercials.

9. Hero - Enrique Ingelsias. It makes me cry no matter what.

10. Party in My Tummy - Yo Gabba Gabba. Annoying and why don't they chew the food that goes to the party. That's a choking hazard.

...that never ends...

I am working on a scarf that has channelled Lamb Chop though I am not talking about the fleecy wisecracking hand puppet. I'm talking about the theme from the show. The scarf has taken it, altered the lyrics and is now mocking me.

This is the scarf that never ends
Yes it goes on and on my friend
Some gal started knitting it
Thinking what a simple pattern it was
And she'll continue knitting it
Forever just because...

(Repeat forever with tempo matching the speed of my needles.)

I thought it was a good idea. A "simple" 4 x 4 rib is something I really like due to it being straightforward in style with just enough of a wavey flow to it. On size 10- or in this case 10- 1/2 needles, it's deep enough to give room for smooshing yet not too deep where you look like some sort of creature is strangling you. I made myself one in a light grey years go. I thought I was safe.

I got the yarn I needed and got to work. Then there was the hiatus. I saw hiatus when I should say lull. Realistically I should say that they only yarn out was the random skeins stuck in the bookshelf ( and their removal made P, my husband very pleased.) Wedding plans, getting settled into new house, and changing random legal things from a name no one could pronounce or spell to a more "standard" name took the scarf's time. It got some time but not enough to please it so it got angry.

It now mocks me. If a scarf could tisk I think it would. Rather it just makes sure the yarn tangles up enough when I get on a roll. I knitted and knitted. Then it was two WIPs so I knitted and I knitted. The second, the baby wrap blanket soon was abandoned once it was almost done and resembled more of a baby taco than the baby burrito is was hinted at by a similar pattern. I know my gauge was right. I think the scarf did it. It scared it.

Knit knit knit knit growl knit knit knit. Check progress.... oh look if two inches. Check clock....oh look it's time for bed, well 2 hours ago. I get discouraged and of course that means new WIP. The Hawks scarf just flies after a slight snag being losing bamboo circulars and a supersaver skein of black yarn. (I think it was a sign bc then I knit it double strand and it was just right.) Even throughout tho the scarf is out and worked on. It continues to mock me.

So now it is again one of two WIPS. One can wait a bit since garter stitch is something that always works when watching television. It's up on the shelf not quick hidden since A, my best friend "found" it last night. It really needs to go in the closet where it is out of sight.

I am determined to finish the scarf though. Two late nights of "thinking" I would have it done ended up with it having a yarney victory and me heading upstairs to bed bleary eyed and muttering once again that I'd finish it tomorrow.

....on and on my friend.... hm hm hmmm hm hmmm....

this blog interrupts your cold scheduled napping

I'm starting to feel human again. After getting hit by a really bad cold, I've been worn out the past few days. I know now I had been fighting it, on a minor level, for quite some time. I just didn't realize it til now.

My knitting has been on hiatus. When I know I'm fully rid of this, I'll pick it back up. Plus I know not wanting to pick it up was part of not feeling well.

I'm done w the 365 for now. A dead camera starting the pause and it just went from there. I think I'll just give it a few months and then start it again as around two. I wasn't happy w the photos and feeling a bit unininspired due to the limits of what I could do, esp night stuff w cold weather doesn't really work outside.

On a brighter note, we got the couch cover. No more red/green/gold plaid w the lighter gold filagree leaf. It's gonna be a nice grey-ey blue and much much much more soothing.

Ok time for another nap. I'm so glad I'm feeling better but I need to remember not to push myself thinking I'm 100%.

It's string cheese but not that stringy

I'm always looking for new good food and when it involves cheese that always adds to it. I shop at Aldi and won't deny it. Why pay extra for food when there are tons of really good stuff there as well? PLUS I saw something on tv about Aldi and how there are a lot of name brand stuff that starts out in the same place as the stuff there. Hmmmm markup much? Sooo I picked up the Fit & Active string cheese. It's good but not as string-ing as I had thought. I'd still get it again though.

The Fit & Active Southwest Veggie stuffed sandwich + mexican cheese sprinkled on top and melted + Louisiana Hot Sauce = YUM!

As you can see I've been food/receipe hunting more so lately. I don't deny we ate good stuff before but after awhile when you look at a lot of the packaged/frozen food it's a bit scary. Healthy vs "non" has been more of a focus. I'm not giving up junk food or sweets but if I can eat fresh pasta w some sort of a sauce vs the frozen kind in a bag I'm going fresh. It tastes so much better.

I joined one of the health/nutrition/food diary sites. I kept everything set as private since it's more so a me thing rather than using forums and whatnot, not that I don't read them after all. As above, we ate healthy which is good (YAY!) but we are even more so now (YAY YAY YAY!)

I haven't knitted as much as I have liked to lately. I was sick for awhile again and feared to contaminate any of the stuff I was making. I'll pick it up again soon.

We got a couch that needs a cover and throw pillows. Joann Fabrics has some really cute patterns and I'm thinking to try my hand at sewing. If I make it patchwork based I don't think it'd be too too hard.

Attempt 1: semi productive

I'm trying to stick to my resolutions and so far I think it has been semi productive for almost one month in...

1. Try something new that is out of my comfort zone, but not dangerously so.
Check - went to the hospital to visit Turnip the day she was born. I hate going to hospitals. They just freak me out. Maternity ward didn't have as many IVs or needles or tubes as the last time I was in a general ward. That stuff makes me all woozy.

2. Get more organized.
A slow start. I need to work on it esp w the cat insistant on knocking things off the shelves in my closet. I specifically bought baskets so he couldn't knock the stuff off the shelf. Now he just takes down the entire basket. UGH.

3. Continue working on a healthier life.
Weekly class, check. Treadmill, semicheck - shoulder/neck pain + offkilter schedule not helping. I just need to get on it and go for at least 20 mins. Food choices - NOT diet - wheat pasta, more fresh fruit, not cutting out snacky/sweets but not making that initial choices when hungry, less soda

4. Make sure I make time for me.
Yes and no. I'm trying to make 8-9pm me time. Then I can get some relax time before bed and not go to bed all wired.

5. Get the library card reinstated and read more.
Check, last batch of books due Sat and I will be getting more.

6. Finish WIPs and try to keep no more than two on the needles.
Ih, as always, ih and of course there is a new pattern I want to start. Stupid mittens are mocking me bc I should wait.

7. Travel w The Husband on an us only trip even if it's a short weekend one.
Time not yet allowed

8. Try new recipes - cooking and baking.
Kick n Chicken green bean pasta is a start.

9. Teach Molly a new trick.
She's learning high five and if she is laying down it works.

10. Take more pictures include doing a 365 project.
Started. WOOHOO!

Grrr Arrrrg - Cue little finger puppet

Today is a stompy day, rather this evening. Stuff around the house that needs to be done is being done - minus this quick entry - and that is good. I'd rather to be doing something else but knowing this is done will make me happy. I'd rather Little Cat be doing something else as well since running up the chair, bouncing off the wall, running down the chair, off the hope chest, turning around, bounding back the way he came, run aroudn the floor, REPEAT is getting annoying. Meh. Meh. Meh.

A good side though was my smoothie this morning made me go "nah" as I walked past Dunkin Donuts. Yay! Don't get me wrong I'm not totally anti-donuts but I feel so much better w a smoothie breakfast. It keeps with my get/stay healthy new years resolution as well. I'm doing pretty good w them so far.

Todays 10 for Tuesday: 10 Fav sports moments...errr well 4.

1. White Sox winning world series

2. Being on TV due to a Erstad home run a couple of years ago.

3. Watching the Hawks play new years day in the 09 Winter classic

4. Going to my first Cubs game w my Cubs fan hubby and being on tv serious faced with everyone else dancing around

Ok now I'm off to get whatever it being kitty-chomped on right now and back to work.

Why do I feel like I should be doing jumping jacks?

I'm totally wired right now. I am thinking it was from the Mt Dew from dinner. We've been drinking less soda now that the holidays are over and with it the overload of sugar/soda/delicious baked goodness and I think the sugar is making me go wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. I prob could do a good 30 mins on the treadmill right now. Being my day off of it though, I'm thinking it best not to do so. I'm trying to go one day on, day or two off since I know my leg muscles will revolt and then it won't be beneficial at all. Sitting around going OW doesn't do anything.

While I've never been a crazy preachy health nut and do have a sweet tooth, I'm making sure I make healthy choices in what I eat and how much activity I do. I've found the last few months if I work out/walk/do something once or twice a week I feel better and sleep better.

Speaking of sleep, I had both furrbuckets on me this morning getting their momma-time as they do every time I have a day off, this time being for the MLK holiday. I have to give them both a good amount of scritches and then they are content.

Laundry overran knitting today but I did get some done this morning. The second skein has enough left to stay in skein-ish shape but enough gone to flop over. Technical terms, I know. I figure if I can get the second one done by the end of the week that will work for me.

We watched Resident Evil: Evolution tonight. I liked is, as did I the other two. At times it may be somewhat predictable in a general sense, but finding out how they are gonna make something jump out and attack is fun.

I'm enjoying the knit/craft photo group. I always have fun meeting up w fellow knitters or crafty people and seeing what they are into as well so this is a fast way to do so. Also, I need to find the cable for the better digi cam so I can take some more creative shots. I love my little digicam but my gorillapod is for the big one. Gotta love a tripod that you can wear as a hat.

Dirty but not Dirty Dancing

I watched the pilot for The Beast tonight. I had read about it in the paper and since it is filmed in Chicago, I figured I'd give it a try. I always like seeing local places in movies and television shows esp if I've been in a place that is included. I am going to have to look up the actor who plays Swayze's character's partner bc he seems familiar. Either that or I'm just thinking he's someone else.

I'm enjoying having Netflix though that means working on sharing the XBox since a lot of stuff I've been watching is streamed. True, I can use the laptop to watch them - as well as browse Ravelry, an idea I got from the 365 - but I hadn't gotten around to that just yet.

Baby G's blanket has now been renamed S's blanket. We visited her this week and I know once it's done it'll be used for awhile. Right now with her being so little it'd be overpowering. Plus it'd be hard for her to get her little arms out since both arms out = happy baby. I think she may become a music conductor, or not. It's still cute.

I had thought to knit tonight but The Puppy and I have had a chair war for a few good hours. I know now if I get up for a glass of water or whatnot, she will take up all the extra space that I was using. Since tomorrow's the holiday, I'll be home and I can work on S's blanket a bit more. I'm on the second skein and am quite happy w the self camo-ing yarn. It's cute in the pink. I could even see it as being edging for something else where it didn't really appear as camo, just using the colors in it.

I've started running, or rather power walking to lead up to running. We have the inlaws old treadmill. It still works but it is LOUD. I've worked on a few playlists and am slowly getting the hang of finding music that has the right tempo. True, I was a band geek/dork/can't recall the proper word to use but not having run for years makes it a bit harder. I can get a good tempo and go for about an hour. I did two miles today which I am proud of and know it's a good start.

Ten on Tuesday: 10 things you are really good at

1. Being a good wife.

2. Being a good friend.

3. Disappearing when wandering malls, stores, or places in general
The Husband will turn around, then turn back and I'll be off looking at something else.

4. Procrastinating going to bed
I realistically should be getting ready for it now.

5. Oddball hollywood/celebrity trivia
I used to play weekly trivia at a local pub.

6. Accumulating yarn and patterns.
If only I had a few months to do nothing but knit

7. Bejeweled
If you haven't played it, it is addictive

8. Finding good sales
I once got a $90 sweater for $9 and my fav fun faux leopard coat was originally $250 purchased for $25

9. Collecting rocks
I've been doing so since I was a kid from travels or beach trips. I'm plotting a landscaping endevour once I get enough big ones from the lake.

10. Random stories.
Public transit, life in general. Need an oddball story? Just give me a topic.

The Crew: The 2nd generation

M & S had their baby girl early this morning - around 3:30, wanting to say 3:35 if I remember correctly, early. The Husband and I went to see her and she is absolutely beautiful. We're talking full head of hair on a chubby cheeked angel that looks like them both. Well as much as a not even a day old baby can resemble her parents. I know she'll look like one, or the other or both as she gets older.

One thing I know is there isn't much like holding a little one in your hands that is just big enough to hold in your hands. I just held her close without really cradling here bc she is so tiny.

I'm gonna like the auntie role.

Beep, thank you for holding.

Something must have gone wrong or delayed with the warranty/shipping of the powercord. We got it but much later than anticipated. Perhaps I was accidentally misquoted with the turnaround time. Nonetheless, it's working properly without the yellow caution appearing warning me that the laptop was ready to give up.

I had plotted to start the 365 project over the holidays and now I'm glad bc I would have been stuck. I have a few pix - esp some baking ones - that even though they aren't too current I do want to post esp the chocolate ones if they turned out well. I've found a new default cookie, a Hersheys easy bake cookbook based one, for double chocolate cookies. They are wonderful and great as a base for numerous versions.

I just forsee a break, or intending a break esp once all the Fannie Maes that I can eat since there are no peanuts are gone, with all the holiday goodie goodness I'm in a bit of a cookie overload. I was honestly excited when there were yellow and red pepper strips at the The Husband's holiday party. YUM! I love peppers. I recently got an odd look from a friend when I was talking about how I had a taste for one but it was too late to go to the market.

The Hawks scarf is done and being worn. I'm quite happy. I'm glad I ended up with the new supersaver skeins bc it just ended up being the two for the main part. It needed to be long though since The Husband is quite tall. He was talking about a Cubs scarf. Even though I am a White Sox fan, I'll end up making it. Rivalry or no rivalry, I love the guy so of course I'll make it for him.

The baby blanket finally has evolved where I wanted it - after I started over AGAIN. Pink camo for a miliary baby is always a good idea. It's gonna be huge though since I ended up getting six at Hobby Lobby. I'd rather it a bit bigger so they can use it longer. If all goes as planned with her delivery date not being delayed, she will be here in the next few days - possibly even sooner. The first little one of that friends group means she is going to get spoiled - with love, attention, and of course stuff. I've already seen cute little sweaters that I want to try. It's also practive for adult sized sweaters.
