Hello flowerbed I know you are in there

We uncovered part of the flowerbed today so it is good that I got this crazy picture. A bit is saved so we have more for cooking + seeds to move it, or rather try to move it to a new place for next year.

My earbud headphones are driving me batty today and I have no idea why. I had plotted knitting and watch/listen to something but I keep fiddling with them. I have my old huge headphones from when I worked radio SOMEWHERE but they aren't in the same place I had them last, or rather the last place I remember them being so it is a bit annoying. I'm at the moment stuck listening to P play NHL09 on Xbox. It's decent music but not my choice.

Pandora is now limiting its music play to 40 hours a month which I can understand it a reasonale amount. I know I use more than that esp since they sent me an email letting me know of the hour cap. Hmmm there is an option to pay for a year which isn't horrid but I can't justify spending that right now.

My sunburn is peeling which is good since it hurts less in some places now. I found out WHY the sunblock didn't do so great. It's a good 3.5 yrs old. It must have been with the stuff in the back of the cabinet I packed up when we moved. OOPS!

April NO July NO June NO May

Dear Mother Nature,

Please pick a month and/or stay with it weather wise, or at least somewhat in the same range. This crazy jumping around is not fun for cute outfit planning nor does it do well with keep the snuffly head/coughy combo away.

Thank you.

&heart;
MBMY

The sunburn is going away sooner than later which is nice. While I do look like I'm molting I'd rather it now since that means it wasn't a horrid burn, just a pretty bad one. While I can do without it being itchy, I'll take it over the omg owwwwwww that woke me up the night prior. It'd still be nice to sleep through the entire night without it waking me up. Maybe tonight ::crosses fingers:: This entire "adventure" will have me getting the spray can sunscreen before the next trip.

I ended up knitting for a little over two hours last night and it was great. I didn't watch anything while doing so, just had some music playing. It doesn't seem like much was done overall I can see the difference. The yarn was making odd blotchy patterns that were almost squarelike at the end of the last skein. I'm glad it stopped a bit before the end. So far no squares with the start of the fifth one. One more after than and then it's done.

I have so much queued up due to it being cool/cute/silly/practical/something for a gift for a friend/family member/Turnip. I do need a quick knit wrap though I am not sure what yarn to use. I would really like to try avacado with an ice blue but I'm not sure. Plus yarn shopping is something I'm trying to plot out before I takeover a room. Well more than a room that is allotted for such. P will have his mancave in the garage which leads me to have more space in the office for my crafty stuff. I just need to keep the cats out of it, or rather Frankie who likes to open drawers. He helps clean them out then as was the case not too long ago. Stuff in a pile meets kitty looking at me like he had no idea why I was yelling at him.

So is my life.

5th of July beach trip

The 4th this year was chilly and rainy for most of the day. We ended up staying in for most of the day as well til the evening. We went to watch the OL fireworks with the usual group, having a good time as always. It was drizzling very faintly so they didn't have the live music as in years past but that totally makes sense. Electricity and water + people don't mix. The show was quite good and a but heavy on red/gold ones this year not that I minded, just an observation.

We decided go to the beach and headed out to Michigan on the 5th. It was our first trip out for the summer which is always exciting. The cooler was packed - much to the enjoyment of the pups too since we had too much ice, not enough freezer room, and a need to not let it all just melt. It did melt, but after they chomped on it a bit. We had two wet faced happy dogs.

The weather cooperated in that it was sunny and lower 80s. The water was a bit too chilly for me to actually swim in it but I did end up about knee deep which cooled me off a bit. P & C threw the football around in the water and ended up having someone's lab want to join in. He sooo wanted the ball even though it was too big for him to catch. C tried and the pup gave a good try. The owners seemed nice but we didn't really talk to them. L & I stayed on our towels catching the rays.

The rays got us all later even with sunblock. P and I are both burnt and sharing a bottle of aloe. I ended up getting the big sunhat that I wanted today. Next time I'll be ready and have a non burnt nose.

Luckily with makeup it isn't too too too horrible looking.

This blog break brought to you by quick dry poly varnish!

I am a little woozy due to our living room smelling like varnish. Windows are open but after the second coat I have retreated upstairs - which is NOT 500 degrees due to the latest change in temperature. Other than the piece of wood at the threshold being done one of the bookends I made in jr high is done as well.

Yes, I know, one when there is two and jr high was a LONG time ago. I was a bit surprised how dark part of the wood ended up since beforehand. It looks nice but didn't seem to hint at that much fo a contrast. Once I find the other one then that can be done too though we are only using one so that works.

I am currently going though my closet in spurts. I get tired of doing so if I sit all day so it works best to do a little, stop, restart etc. With one more garage sale this summer and the possible church yardsale with the MIL, I should keep at it so it is not a rush two days before. Luckily the short notice of the last sale worked in my favor since I had stuff semi ready.

The closet can finally be swapped to the summer mode. I had things to wear but the actual summer clothes weren't needed for so long and the bought of crazy humidity kept me from it as well. I'm not looking forward to all the clothes though since I know there will be stuff that doesn't fit anymore. Some is plotted to be put in spacebags with the hope to wear it again someday and others will be sold/donated. I am trying to be realistic esp since I haven't been working out as much as I should lately. I get home and I'm tired so the thought of that sans a class isn't too great. I have my hoop so that is something good plus it is so much fun.

I tried looking for a pattern to use my rug yarn as a bag. Ditto w the crochet cord but didn't find anything. I may go to the 365 peeps (not sure why I used 'peeps' but why not) to see if anyone else has used either. Smart ladies (and guy(s)so someone must know something or have a general idea.

Feeling a little fuzzy

I am ALMOST done with the current skein though it likes to grow as I am moving along. I give it til the end of the week and then a new one starts.

Taste of Chicago is in full swing but isn't really making me want to go this year. They added gates for security reasons since people are dumb and bring a gun or two to the Taste. I don't understand it but as I said stuuuupid to bring a weapon to a family festival and be the one moron in a group of good people. Pffft! i digress so it's security gated entry points which kind of kills my in/samosas/out plan that has worked so well the past few years. Oh well. It not being super sunny made me not want to bring the digicam so perhaps next year.

The giant plant outside the kitchen window is gone. We thought it was some sort of plant in the terms of to be kept but it ended up being some sort of weed that neither of us had seen and Dad ended up telling us. Oops. At least we get more light in now.

Woof Meow Woof Meow

Today was vet day for Molly since she was due for her shots. I had forgotten that the waiting room opened two hours before the actual clinic did. We ended up being there a little over two hours. She, however, barked twice (in a row) and growled though it was more of a grumble once when she thought another dog wanted her cookie. I was hungry and animal crackers are basically the human form of dog biscuits so why not. Overall you have to figure that is not bad esp since the last time she kept rolling around on the floor. It was also a year ago so she was a puppy puppy not a 50lb puppy/dog.

I'm still working on the latest WIP. I've stopped the hectic pace on it - keeping it rapid as possible but stressing over knitting never works well. I end up dropping a stitch or messing up my gauge just enough that I notice. Overall it is fine but I know it is there.

Nixmusic will be heading to Alaska this week so no knit nights for awhile. I don't mind at all though esp since I can't wait to hear about her most recent trip there. I do hope to travel there someday. It's on my someday list.

Do I really need a new hobby?

I gained $9.50 from my share of things sold at the garage sale. True it is not that much money but that is less stuff and some happy people including a little girl who was thrilled to get a plastic set of play dishes. There are two more sales of sort plotted for the rest of the summer. I know I have more stuff to try to get rid of since I just found some more toys that could have gone out with the other stuff.

I also gained a few boxes of craft/sewing stuff. Do I need more crafty items? No but really how could I not! Fabric, buttons, and crochet thread. I don't crochet. I know people who do and I have nothing against it but it wasn't something that I picked up on. Perhaps it's needing to get a better hang on knitting - like lace and cables - first. Soooo now with this bunch I have the opportunity to try when I so feel like it.

Of course that will be when the latest WIP is done. A little over two more skeins. It is looking really good but I am wary it won't be enough and then I need to add a border. I really don't have the extra yarn cash to buy a ton of yarn right now. I'm debating but I do plan to get this done asap. I'm hoping it will be fine.

After this is done, I am sooooo just picking a PATTERN and doing that. :)
